Geophysical test site
The Geophysical test site created in the campus of Nantes in 1997 is dedicated to the development of methods to identify burried objects at shallow depths.
The site is firstly dedicated to the application of existing methods to find burried objects in perfectly controlled conditions : the confining soil is well known and carrefully compacted for long term stability. The objects (various tubes, rocks, voids, ...) are perfectly localised in a local geodetic reference. This allows us to compare the performances of various methods and devices, to calibrate them or improve them, or to provide test or reference data to compare with numerical models.
The geophysical test site is also useful for users who wish to compare methods and devices. Finally, it is an excellent place to form people to geophyscical methods in real conditions from the deployement of geophysical devices to the interpretation of the measurments and the production of images.
