Robotic, Automated and DIgital solutions for improving building renovAtion and New Construction Efficiency

RADIANCE (Robotic, Automated and DIgital solutions for improving building renovAtion and New Construction Efficiency) is a Horizon Europe project aimed at developing an integrated suite of robotic, digital, and artificial intelligence-based technologies to enhance the entire building renovation process.

The project addresses all renovation stages, from inspection and diagnosis to repair, planning, safety assessment, and sustainability evaluation. Through several real-life validation scenarios in European buildings, RADIANCE seeks to accelerate renovation workflows, support workers with advanced technologies, improve on-site safety, and reduce the environmental footprint of construction activities.

The project developments include:

  • autonomous robotic systems for façade inspection and repair,
  • AI-based tools for automated defect detection and decision support,
  • digital twin platforms integrating BIM, sensor data, and simulation tools,
  • advanced non-destructive evaluation and structural health monitoring technologies.

Role of GéoEND in the Project

Within RADIANCE, GéoEND contributes to research activities related to:

  • structural inspection processes,
  • adaptation of robotic systems for inspection applications,
  • to the development and integration of multiphysics diagnostic methods based on ultrasonic and electromagnetic techniques,
  • modelling and data analysis for structural evaluation.
